Kerri (Tiernan) Rowland was born and raised in Milford and grew up in the Point Beach area. She played her entire youth hockey career with Southern CT from House through Bantam.  At that time, she was the only female hockey player in the Southern program and one of the few females in the entire state to play on a Boys hockey team.

Kerri attended high school at the Taft School in Watertown CT where she was a three sport athlete and Senior Captain of the Girl's Hockey Team.  While playing for Boston College against stand-out players such as Cammi Granato, Sue Merz, and Erin Whitten, Kerri was recognized in 1991 as one of the top Womens goaltenders in the country, and was considered for selection to the the 1992 Women's National Hockey Team.  Ultimately, Kerri decided to continue her studies at Boston College where she was carrying a double Major workload.   Kerri captained the BC Eagles in both her Junior and Senior year.  In her Senior season, she led the Eagles to the 1992 AWHCA National Championship.

Kerri started her coaching career at Guilford High School as an Assistant Coach for Varsity Girl's Hockey, spending 2 years there.  Kerri then moved to Sacred Heart University Women (NCAA Div. 1), to become an Assistant Coach under Tom O'Malley for 2 years.  When Notre Dame Catholic High School of Fairfield started a Girl's Hockey program, Kerri decided to leave SHU and take over the NDF program as its first Head Coach.  In only its 4th season of play, the Notre Dame Girls earned a berth to their first CCGHL tournament as well as the CT State tournament. Each season since then, NDF Girls have met much success despite being one of the smallest squads in the state.  In the most recent 2013-14 season, despite being huge underdogs, the NDF Girls finished the season as the SCC Division 2 Runner-up.

Kerri is in her 9th season with Notre Dame, building the program to include a full time Assistant Coach, as well as recently including the Milford High School girls on it's roster as a co-op.  Kerri continues to maintain her Southern Stars coaching responsibilities, pulling double duty as the Head Coach for the Girls U19 Blue and as an Assistant Coach on U16.

Outside of hockey, Kerri has been a long-time coach for Girl's Softball in Milford Little League, which included managing the Milford International Majors softball all-stars to a runner-up finish in 2008 for Little League District 4 Majors division.  She is also a Milford softball umpire usually found doing 12U, 14U, and 16U softball games.  Kerri is also the Head Girls Lacrosse Coach for Notre Dame Fairfield and will be starting her third season in that role.

In her spare time, she is involved in local Milford politics having previously served on the Milford Board of Alderman.  Kerri's political career includes an unsuccessful bid for Mayor of Milford in November 2007, in which she lost to the incumbent Mayor by the narrowest margin in almost 20 years.  Remaining politically active, Kerri currently serves on the Milford Park, Beach, and Recreation Commission.

Kerri and her husband Brian, have two children in the SCYH program - Sean '96 and Emily '98.
